Group: Animatic
Katie's individual contribution to the animatic was editing the photos all together to the song as well as helping with the storyboarding. Mel's individual contribution was doing some of the storyboarding as well as helping to give ideas to the editing process.
By completing this activity, we have learnt that using multiple camera angles is essential in making our music video look visually pleasing. Although we didn't show camera movements within it, we will include more movement as it makes the footage more interesting to watch. We have seen that intercutting a performance part to our idea has proven very effective as it breaks up the narrative. Our mise-en-scene is important as we want all the clips to link up and provide continuity for the narrative part of our music video. Our animatic showed us that we need to carefully think about everything that is in the shot to keep them all looking the same. We also realised rule of thirds will be important when filming in Brighton as we want our footage to look professional. Cutting the different parts of the animatic to fit the song was also difficult so we learnt that we will have to carefully think about the relationship between lyrics and visuals, and music and visuals as we want our music video to fit with the genre of the song.
This process helped the development of our concept because it caused us to finalise our ideas and get them into a storyboard. It forced us to have to make decisions so therefore allowed our concept to develop further. Originally we were not sure whether to include an intercutted performance part to our music video however, due to storyboarding and creating the animatic, we decided it would make our piece more interesting and it conforms to the conventions of our music genre.
This task was more complex than the task at AS because we thought more about how many different angles of the same shot we would need in this piece which we did not do at AS. We realised it needed a lot of thought of how we wanted to look in the end. We also included found images as well as our own drawn storyboard which we did not do at AS as they represent the type of shot we want to show better than our hand drawings.
Group: Digipak and Magazine Mockup
We have decided to have a 6 pane digipak as part of our promotional campaign. We chose to do 6 panes because we feel as if they are the most effective digipaks and it allows us to use multiple different stills that we really like in it. This is a mockup of roughly what we think we want to include in our digipak.
This is mockup of what we are hoping our magazine advert will roughly look like. We are planning to have it landscape so it will either be a half page magazine advert, or a third of page magazine advert.

Group: Storyboard
Today we have finished storyboarding our music video. These are most of the frames, but on set we will take more shots of the same thing from different angles so we can achieve our fast cutting rate.
Group: Filming Schedule
On Saturday 31st October, we will be filming at Benenden to get the shots of the girl in her bedroom, some car tracking shots, and all of the performance shots. Our cast have said they can make this day so we are hoping to get the rest of our music video filmed.
On Saturday 14th November, we are planning to get our cast together and film in Brighton. We our hoping the weather will be acceptable for our idea on the day. We will travel there by car and will try to film all the shots we need to get in Brighton so we will not have to go back to re-film because the weather could be different on a different day so therefore our piece would not achieve continuity.

Group: Audience Research
Create your own user feedback survey
To find out our target audiences opinions on what should be included in our music video, we sent out an online questionnaire. This shows progression from AS to A2 because in our AS production, we sent out a printed questionnaire for people to answer by hand. This therefore meant we were restricted in the amount of people who could answer it as we only had as many questionnaires as we had printed out. Doing it online meant that we were able to send our questionnaire to multiple people in order to try and get the highest amount of responses. We also thought more carefully about what type of questions to ask which we didn't do as well in AS because we received some answers that were against our original concept idea so we therefore had to adapt it slightly. However with our survey this time, we included more explanation and only included possible answers that we had originally debated including.
Our questionnaire was emailed out to multiple different people and we got a variety of responses. Here's what our survey showed:

Group: Pitch - Audience Feedback
- What was effective in terms of pitch and presentation? What areas would you improve?
We would improve the digipak analysis if we were to do it again as we should have given the style more thought and included a mock up of a digipak; however we were unable to do so as we were unsure of how to do this using Photoshop, although we could have sketched a rough idea out.
- What are the strengths of our concept?
Up beat song fits well with activities included in narrative storyline
Desaturated filter will be effective
Good storyboard ideas
Sunset shot to end video will be effective
Large cast
Nice shot ideas
Interesting locations
- What are the areas for development?
How much footage will need to be filmed due to the fast paced cutting
What activities are happening in the lanes to be enough to fill the time
Shot ideas running throughout
- What are the key areas which need to be tested on our target audience?
Our idea to project images over the singers face to make it more visually interesting or just to have a black room with singer lip singing.
- What ideas do we have for storyboarding?
Making sure we can film in the car effectively as this will be a large part of our video
Keeping in mind which video effects we are going to use
Making sure we can include all characters in each necessary shot so we can realistically stick to the storyboard while filming.

Group: Cohesive Band Image
How are you going to show a cohesive band image across three products?
- We will show a cohesive band image across our three products by ensuring we use the same colour scheme. This shows that they will all be related and establish their meta-narrative.
- The images will all be slightly similar in some way as well as using the same font on each part. This further emphasizes the fact they are all related.
Group: Pitch - Progression, AS to A2
How is your pitch for A2 going to show progression from AS?
- In terms of our pitch, we will show progression from AS to A2 by carefully planning what is going to happen in each part of our music video.
- We will have already storyboarded some key shots as well as doing a break down of the song and what is going to happen in each part.
- At AS we were not as organised. We still had no finalised some ideas such as who were going to be our actors and the location we were planning to film in. However at A2 we have made those decisions which enables us to go further with our planning.
