On Thursday 17th September we went to Brighton to see if it would be a suitable location for our music video and to do some practice shots.
I learnt that filming on the pier can sometimes be quite difficult due to the wind making it shake so the shot often came out shaking. I also learnt that a lot more footage is needed for music videos, especially in ones with a fast cutting rate so it is best to take multiple shots of the same action but in a different angle so when you go to piece it together, it looks more effective and interesting to watch.
What I felt was good about our trip to Brighton was that it allowed us to experiment with different types of shots that we've never done before, such as a dolly zoom. It also gave us some footage that we are able to practice using the editing software on.
This influences our planning as I think Brighton would be a good location for our music video. I think we need to plan a lot before we go in order to make sure we have all the shots we need so we aren't spending the majority of our time trying to think what to do and then maybe come back with not enough footage.
